Kristen Houge
Choir Director
Kristen Houge is a 2006 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and holds her degree in K-12 General and Choral Music Education. While at UWM, she was a leading member of the Concert Chorale, Women’s Chorus and University Choir, and appeared in many stage productions and opera scenes. Favorite roles include Mary Warren in The Crucible and Mrs. Nolan in Menotti’s The Medium. As a senior in college, Kristen joined Milwaukee’s premier professional women’s ensemble the Milwaukee Choral Artists and is presently enjoying her fourth season performing, as well as serving on their board of directors.
Upon graduating from UWM, Kristen taught elementary music in the Racine Unified School District for one semester before traveling for six months to Mexico to teach English as a foreign language and learn Spanish. Kristen is now blessed to be in her 2nd year teaching choral music at MLHS. She spends her summers working at Miller Park’s Metavante Club.
Del Schmidt
Band Director
Mr. Schmidt has a BS in music education and MS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has taught at Milwaukee Lutheran High School since 1969. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Milwaukee Musicians Union, National Band Association, Wisconsin School Music Association, and the Wisconsin Bandmasters Association.
Mr. Schmidt’s major instrument is the tuba and he has performed with many groups including the Milwaukee Civic Band and Orchestra, the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, the West Allis Civic Band, The Festival City Brass Band, the Milwaukee American Legion Band, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Under his direction the instrumental music program of Milwaukee Lutheran High School has two concert bands, a jazz ensemble, and a marching band. Mr. Schmidt also directs the brass ensemble, flute choir, and the musical pit orchestra. At present 16% of the school body is involved in the instrumental music program. Mr. Schmidt is a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Wauwatosa. Mr. Schmidt was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Instrumental Music Instruction by the Milwaukee Civic Music Association on May 6, 2009
Ellen Anderson
Elementary Band Director
Miss Anderson graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a Batchlor of Fine Arts Degree in Music Education. She has taught in the Elementary Band Department, where she is the Department Head, and Milwaukee Lutheran High School, where she is Assistant Director, for 36 years. She believes in staying current on her major instrument, which is percussion, and has been a member of The Milwaukee Elks Youth Band, Catholic Knights Band, Knightwind Ensemble, British Brass Band, The Boys of 76 Drum and Bugle Corp, and The Milwaukee Civic Band. She loves showing students how to take their God given talents in Music, and use them to Praise the Lord.
Anne Widener
Elementary Band Director
Mrs. Anne Widener earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from UW-Milwaukee in 1987. While at UWM, she was principle clarinet in all of the major performing groups. Before joining the staff at Milwaukee Lutheran, she taught band at Thomas More HS and for the St Francis, WI public school system.
Mrs. Widener has been teaching in the Elementary Band Program since 1989. She is also the Color Guard director and travels with the marching band on tour. In addition, Mrs. Widener is a certified instrument repair technician and manages the repair shop for a local music store. She plays at church, weddings and private parties and previously with the Knightwind ensemble.
Mrs. Widener has been married to her husband Greg since 1988. They have two children-David & Mary.
Jennifer Feucht
Vocal Instructor
Jennifer graduated with her music degree from UW-Milwuakee. Since then, she has sung professionally with the Bel Canto Chorus, the Milwaukee Choral Artists, and was in the chorus of Madame Butterfly at the Skylight Opera Theatre. Jennifer also has been the music director for several college and community theatre musicals and has accompanied over twenty shows.
Currently, she teaches private voice and piano lessons at the Academy of Music in Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee Lutheran, and at Mayville High School, where she is also the school accompanist.
