
2009-2010 MLHS Symphonic Band
The Milwaukee Lutheran High School Symphonic Band is a Class A band that performs three concerts a year. Before retiring from competition the band achieved 10 straight years of firsts in Class A. The band has performed at the Marquette Band Festival and the UWM Band Festival.
The repertoire of the band includes mostly class A literature. In the last five years the band has performed, "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orf, "Finale from Symphony Number 4" by Tchaikovsky, "Festive Overture" by Shostakovich, "Finale from the New World Symphony" by Dvorak, "Purgatorio, by Robert Smith, "Espirit Des Corps" by Robert Jaeger, "Russian Christmas Music" by Alfred Reed, "Havendance" by David Holisnger, "The Illyad" by Robert Smith, "Fantasy on Psalm 100" by Barry Kopeck, "Jupiter" from "The Planets" by Gustav Holst, and Ride by Samuel Hazzo.
In 2007, twenty five students in this band qualified for the state contest on individual solos. Members of the Symphonic Band also involved in the Musical Pit Orchestra.
